marvelzombies_4_01_variantcoverTake A Bite Out Of Marvel Zombies 4 #1!

The fan favorite creative team behind Marvel Zombies 3 returns with a brand new chapter in the Marvel Zombies mythos! Acclaimed writer Fred Van Lente and artist Kev Walker join forces once again in Marvel Zombies 4 #1 with another adventure full of action, thrills and gore! The new Midnight Sons are the only ones who can prevent the inevitable apocalypse, but how long can they last? This issue also features a variant by seminal zombie artist Arthur Suydam!marvelzombies_4_01_cover

Fans and critics alike agree — Van Lente & Walker are a hit on Marvel Zombies:

“Van Lente hits all the right notes here, as he balances the sick humor with an engaging plot, providing a few twists and turns in just a single issue. And Walker’s art is streamlined an effective, with a kind of blocky Steve Dillon vibe that I haven’t seen from him before.” Timothy Callahan, ComicBookResources.com

“Writer Fred Van Lente manages to merge two of my favorite things in recent Marvel history, the dark horror of the Marvel Zombies and the wry, vicious Aaron Stack from the late, lamented Nextwave. Kev Walker manages to convey pure horror and comedy (sometimes even in the same panel).” Matthew Peterson, MajorSpoilers.com

“Walker does an amazing job of the artwork in this issue. […] The issue is bright and bold, with fantastic action which does a great job of translating Van Lente’s amazing script onto the page.” Adam Chapman, Comixtreme.com

Review: The Incredible Hercules #121

I’m going to be honest. After the Incredible Hulk became the Incredible Hercules, I dropped the title before I really even gave the book a chance. I have never been a huge Hercules fan. I always enjoyed him when he was with the Avengers, but as a solo character he was just never one who particularly interested me. Thus, the reason for dropping the book when the title changed. Over the last few months I have been hearing many people talking about how good the new book is. Well, curiosity finally got the best of me and I can totally see what everybody was talking about! This book was just pure comic book fun! The writing team of Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak deliver an off-the-wall fun ride that was a blast from beginning to end. I love the bits with Amadeus Cho here! World War Hulk kinda left me with a sour taste in my mouth for the character with the whole seventh smartest person in the world line thrown in our face every other panel. But here, he was was a great supporting character with some really funny dialog. The story as a whole, I just really had a good time with. There were great moments of action, a funny historic flashback, a few lessons in speaking ancient Greek and some hot, hormonally charged Amazons with guns! What more could you ask for?

How about some absolutely gorgeous art from Clayton Henry (Wolverine: First Class)! I absolutely loved the art in this book! Henry has a very clean line style that I thought was an excellent fit for this book. There was one scene in particular involving the Titan Atlas that I thought was just amazing! I think Guru-Efx should also get mentioned for their coloring work that helped make that scene so impressive.

In my opinion, this was a really great issue all around! I may have to go do a little back issue bin diving (oh, darn) and try and pull out some of the issues I’ve missed. I give this book two big thumbs up!

Preview: Hulk vs. Hercules: When Titans Collide

INCREDIBLE! HERC VERSUS HULK!

Hulk smashes Hercules. Hercules clobbers Hulk. Well, just who is stronger – the Green Goliath or the Lion of Olympus? The critically-acclaimed creative team behind Incredible Hercules look to answer that question in a mammoth-sized one-shot Hulk vs. Hercules: When Titans Collide.

Following the events of the first arc of Incredible Hercules, Hercules and Amadeus Cho hit the road and along the way, the Prince of Power reveals a never-before seen story of him going against ol’ Green Scar himself — the Incredible Hulk! And this story sets up themes for the upcoming “Sacred Invasion” story beginning in May’s Incredible Hercules #117 that you won’t want to miss.

In reviews for Incredible Hercules, Comixtreme.com has said Greg Pak and Fred Van “have done an amazing job at crafting this story” and Khoi Pham’s artwork has been called “truly incredible” as the title continues to rack up great reviews from a bevy of online press.

Plus, this one-shot features a classic Hulk and Hercules brawl from Tales to Astonish #79 filled with even more smashing, crashing, mashing and lashing (and probably a lot of property damage). Both heroes have both been called “Incredible,” but just who will win take the title when Hulk and Hercules go nose-to-nose in Hulk vs. Hercules: When Titans Collide?
