The Twelve #3 Returns With A New Printing!

March 11th, 2008 Comments off

Marvel is pleased to announce that The Twelve #3 (of 12) is going back to press with a second printing, to meet the overwhelming demand that led to a quick sell-out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level). The Twelve #3 (of 12) Second Printing Variant, from red-hot scribe JMS (Thor) and acclaimed artist Chris Weston, continues the journey of the time-lost Twelve, as they must adjust to a new world where heroism and normalcy have much different definitions. This new printing features the nuanced interior art of Chris Weston on a new cover! Marking a fourth straight sell-out for one of 2008’s most acclaimed new series, The Twelve continues to enthrall audiences with a timely, socio-political thrill-ride.

IGN.Com awarded the series an Editor’s Choice award, gushing, “The Twelve is a resoundingly great book… readers will come away with a great experience.”

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on The Twelve, as the series continues to sell out quickly with each issue and garner mainstream media attention. Just what secrets are the heroes hiding? And who is hunting them? Don’t miss a single issue of The Twelve!

Review: Wolverine #63

March 11th, 2008 Comments off

I think this is going to rank up there with the Greg Rucka run as a favorite of mine. And this is only the second issue in.

As shown by the opening the pages, we see some more of Logan’s past that he shares with Raven Darkholme. But in this issue we also see Wolverine trying to ‘get Mystique’ in the present day as he continues to carry out his orders given to him by Cyclops in the last issue.

This is a very, very good issue. Jason Aaron is on point with all of the characters here. We’re reminded that Mystique is a villain. And a very good one at that. And Wolverine? Well, he is the best at what he does. While I tend to enjoy Ron Garney when he’s inked by Bill Reinhold or Dan Green, he’s doing a damn fine job here. The art is crisp, clean, and dirty when it needs to be.

This is a story that cannot be missed.

Recommended.

Dave Stevens 1955 – 2008

March 11th, 2008 Comments off

I’ve been stunned by the news that Rocketeer creator and phenomenal artist Dave Stevens passed away last night because of complications due to leukemia.

There are no words. I’m speechless. There are others that can express what they feel better than I.

The Beat. Mark Evanier. Wednesday’s Haul.

Rest in peace, Dave. You will be missed.
